I look at the world today and it really is a beautiful site.

However, its the people in it that makes it an ugly world.

like for instance, you take your child/ren to the park n they look so innocent and you just wanna wrap them up in bubble wrap n cherish them moments forever.

Then some nasty piece of work comes along n spoils it.

The nasty piece of work im talking about is pedophiles.

They destory the child's life if it doesnt kill them.

Not only does it destroy the child/rens lives it also effects their family and every other person that is around them for the rest of their lives.

With so many things like this going on in the world why then do people pick out something as petty as someones lifestyle to wage war on?

For a long time i was involved in the GLBT community close to my home and the ridicule, bullying and discrimination that i seen was unreal.

A close friend of mine was even beaten to death by some local yobs because they found out he had a male partner. However, it was never publicized, didnt even get a 2 line mention in the local newspaper.

I never actually realized that things like that actually happened, specially so close to home. People are even getting turned down for jobs or forced to leave their jobs because of their sexuality. I know that doesnt happen every where but it does happen.

I myself am a gay woman, and living in the UK I have noticed that gay women are more accepted in society then gay men.

Although in saying that gay women are still discriminated against for their sexual preference.

I live in a small town full of devote Catholics and I'm sure you can imagine what they think of me.

None of my friends are homosexual, and when I asked them what they thought of the discrimination against the GLBT community, they all said near enough the same thing. "There is nothing wrong with people being homosexual as long as they do not  force their sexuality on others and they do not flaunt it in front of those who dislike it, out of respect and knowing it will provoke them more than anything"

Throughout history there has been records of homosexuality including the bible itself, which is why I don't understand why religious bodies are against it.

Also throughout history the views on homosexuality keep changing, it becomes more acceptable to the lifestyle and

then it becomes more strictly against it.

Basically in my opinion and the opinion of people I have asked, people should try and find cures for life threaten and

critical diseases before they try and find a cure for a lifestyle they don't agree with.

The people of this world should come together and fight for a common cause to make the world a better place,

fight against things like pedophiles, terrorists and cancer, things that will actually make a difference to everyone in the world.

Pretty much what it all comes down to is people are scared of things they dont understand and that are different,

and when people are scared of things they try their best to destroy it, maybe not intentially, but they do.

So, i say this...  stop and take a step back and think to yourself how would you feel if you were being discriminated against,

even hated because you were different to the so called norm.

but wot uve said makes sense there r alot more important things we shld be thinkin about then wot peoples lifestyles  r .i dont understand sometimes how people can turn on u like that n i think its even worse when the people doin it r the ones who r supoosed to love u, the ones who raised u n who u love unconditionaly. maybe one day people will realise that it doesnt matter if ur gay or bi or w/e ur still u, u feel u hurt n u cry  n then maybe just maybe we can come together n start to focus on wots realy important like findin those cures that take so many people from there families n friends

i think on the relgion part im kinda stuck, i believe theres a god n that he created ppl n animals n plants but i dont think god hates gays like haters say he does. to be able to create these things takes alot of power n i think if u have that much power n u hate me cos im gay then u have the power to come tell me urself u dont need some church or anythin like that to do it for u

When I was in college my favourite teacher was beaten up very badly because he was gay. Personally I've never had anything worse than being yelled at from a car for holding hands with my then girlfriend, but reading about what happened to your friend saddened me deeply.

You're absolutely right. With so much other stuff going on in the world why do people concern themselves with things that are nothing to do with them, like the sexual behaviour of other people. I think people need an 'other' to feel like they belong to the dominant group. It's pathetic. But I also think attitudes are changing. Just look how far things like the gay rights movement has come in the last few decades.

We just have to stay true to ourselve and hope that these destructive and out dated attitudes will fade away.
